We were married in 1975, and in the summer of 1989 Dennis felt called to attend Bible College. He quit his job, we sold our house and traveled to upstate New York with our then three sons, where Dennis attended Word of Life Bible Institute. He graduated in the Spring of 1990 and spent that summer as a summer missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Toledo. The following fall we traveled to Warrenton Missouri to attend the Child Evangelism Fellowship Leadership Training Institute. We both graduated in November of 1990. While there, son #4 was born! After graduation, we returned to Toledo and in the spring of 1991, we were given the opportunity to take over as director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Toledo. We did, however, have to raise our entire support, and began contacting churches and individuals. We must tell you that the Lord has been faithful to meet our every need these past 26 years as we've put our trust in Him. And, to complete our family, in 1993 He blessed us with twin girls! What joy they brought to our home, especially little Sarah who has Down syndrome. She is such an added blessing to our family—so full of love and the joy of the Lord!
The Lord continued to bless our work adding new teachers and new clubs, and in 1995, our local Board unanimously voted to become an independent local ministry—reaching the children who do not know the Lord in the greater Toledo and surrounding area for Christ. We became Children's Outreach Ministries. Our purpose is four-fold:
